A Moment in Proverbs ~ And God Spoke *

Welcome to A Moment in Proverbs, a daily devotional written by my precious mother who has a heart for young moms. I hope you will be encouraged by this post. Feel free to leave a comment before you leave. She loves hearing from you all!

Do you realize that all that exists is because God spoke it into existence? When we consider our lives, creation, our positions in life, our families, our abilities, and our accomplishments,we must acknowledge that everything we have is because God spoke it into existence.  Consider this; is there anything that you can say you created? Carefully consider it, for everything that man thinks he made was because God provided.

I once read a whimsical conversation suggested between God and the Scientist.  The Scientist said to God, “We are greater than you for we have discovered how to make man from grains of sand.”  God simply replied, “Yes, but I created the sand”.  As silly as this sounds, the point remains there is nothing we can honestly take credit.  Once we look at the very core of where our talent came from, once we consider the opportunity we took, we realize God is the one who brought it into existence.

When we consider God’s Word, we must understand that it was He who spoke the Word. Each man who wrote their testimony, prophecy and history upon the pages  of God’s Word were given the doctrine by divine inspiration. God is our source of inspiration and it is Christ who is the fulfillment of the Word of God.

As we look at our “BACK TO THE BASICS OF THE WORD”, we must believe in the authority behind the words we read.  So let us consider these words today, “And God Spake”; what is He speaking to you this day?

Genesis 1:3, 6, 9, 11, 14-15, 20, 24, 26, And God said, let there be light: and there was light. And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God said, let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God said, let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Matthew 5:17, Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. 2 Peter 1:21, For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Prayer:  LORD, speak to us from your Word.  Open our hearts and minds to hear your spirit speak life into us.   Create in us the desire to choose your Word over anything this life can offer.  We thank you for all you have provided. We ask you to speak your Word to our heart this day.  And we Praise your Name forever.  Amen.
