A Moment in Proverbs ~ Wise Sons and Daughters of the Word *

Welcome to A Moment in Proverbs, a daily devotional written by my precious mother who has a heart for young moms. I hope you will be encouraged by this post. Feel free to leave a comment before you leave. She loves hearing from you all!

LORD, we desire to be wise sons and daughters who hear and act upon your Word and instructions.  We seek after your Word for they supply all of our needs. You have provided a plan for each of us and you ask us to watch over our mouth, be diligent, hate lying, walk upright, and trust in you for all things.  You have told us to be not only hearers of the Word but that we must be doers of the Word. We are reminded by our brother Matthew Henry that “It is not enough to hear and read the word, to commend and admire it, to know and remember it; to talk and discourse of it, but we must do it!”

LORD, our true value is found in you.  You cause us to rejoice as we learn to be righteous before you.  You comfort and bless those who trust in your wisdom.  LORD, your blessings are life to us.

You have promised us that if we reverence your Word and Commandments we will be rewarded.  Show us your wisdom and let us drink from the fountain of life. Your Word tells us we will find favor if we seek understanding so teach us to be knowledgeable in your Word.

We know when we ask of you; we will be satisfied.  Father, help us to leave a legacy for our children and children’s children. Teach us to be diligent in life so that those who follow will be faithful in their walk.  We pray these things in Jesus’ precious name, amen.

Question

  • Have you asked God to help you establish the legacy you will leave behind?
  • Do you know your true value in Christ?
