How to quickly heal a bladder infection

When my daughter has suffered from UTI’s my only question was, “How do I quickly heal a bladder infection?” I’ve heard lots of tips and ideas but in this blog post I’m only sharing what’s worked for us personally!

In fact, I’m calling this the unofficial “Ultimate blog post for Healing bladder infections” because that’s what it is! I’ve packed it full with information and products of exactly what I use when a UTI shows up in our home.

Seriously, what’s a mom supposed to do when her child gets a bladder infection? Run outside to the cranberry vine and pick a bushel? Well maybe not, but if you’re like me you probably instantly start to think of ways to stop the pain before it gets unbearable!

Here are some of my most tried and true tips for when my daughter or I deal with a bladder infection!

cranberry1

Increase water intake: If you are horrible at getting a full 2 liters of water in each day like me, then it’s EXTRA important to make sure you keep a bottle of water next to you and sip on it as you feel the start of a bladder infection coming on… Do not wait for it to become worse.

Pure Cranberry Juice: I always keep a bottle of pure cranberry juice in my fridge for times when drinking water simply doesn’t kick it. For myself I personally set a timer to go off each hour and I take a shot glass size of the cranberry juice followed by 8oz of water and repeat until I’m feeling better. Important note: Make sure you read the ingredients on your cranberry juice. I was surprised how many had very little cranberry juice.

Essential Oils: This has never failed to show intimidate results! Remember the one hour timer? If you have these oils on hand go ahead and apply them each hour as you drink the cranberry juice. Sometimes I am not home to drink the cranberry juice or if I haven’t been to the store to buy a new bottle of juice then I skip that step and go straight to the oils! I’ve never been disappointed. The oils work quickly to relieve the pain and if I’m if I’m faithful to drink my water then the infection is gone in no time!

Apply topically on the bladder area (lower abdomen).
You can also add a few drops to your water, but watch out, that Thieves oil has a kick!

  • 3 drops Thieves
  • 3 drops Lemon
  • 3 drops Purification

AVOID: Avoid drinking alcohol, coffee or citrus juices (orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit)

AVOID: Bubble baths. I know this isn’t a fun tip. Especially if you have a little one who loves playing in the tub yet, sitting in bath water that is dirty is not a good idea for little ones who are prone to bladder infections. Fragrances in the soap can also add to irritation and UTI”s.

Frequent Urination: Don’t hold it. Let your body flush out the bad bacteria. Sometimes you may not have a heavy urination flow, that’s okay, your body still needs to get that out. If my daughter is having a really stubborn UTI then I set her on the toilet while she’s drinking her water, this tip seems to help her relax enough to go potty.

Appropriate Dress: Think casual, relaxed, and flowy  clothing that lets your skin breath and help keep the bacteria away. Cotton underwear is best or even no underwear at all. Make sure you wear cotton pants that breath easily and not too tight. Moisture is a breeding ground for bacteria, so make sure you are keeping yourself dry. Hold off on wearing skinny jeans or leggings for a few days after you’ve begun feeling better just to make sure you don’t irritate anything.

My Toddler’s Labial Adhesion story, part 2

Thank you for joining me today.

On Monday I shared, My Toddler’s Labial Adhesion story, part 1 I know it may sound silly, but it took courage to share our story online.

All the questions of how others will respond, the doubts of sharing these private matters, and the fear of offending others filled my mind. It took courage to share what I felt the Lord was leading me to share. My mom, Mrs. Joseph Wood, always says that the enemy tries to make us feel alone. The enemy wants to isolate us; he wants us to believe that we can’t speak of our real life issues and problems… even with our Sisters in Christ. I can’t explain the purposeful decision that it took to hit the “submit” button and know there was no turning back. I posted out of obedience. I didn’t expect to get any feedback.  I was blessed by all of you that wrote to share your story with me and ask questions. Thank you, for reaching out to me!

Today, I want to continue to share how the Lord is bringing healing to our daughter while she is recovering from, Labial Adhesion. I think we all know, but just for the record….  I am not a doctor and I am not saying this information is the cure.
I am simply a mom, a Sister in Christ, sharing what The Lord has brought into our life as a way of healing and perhaps He can use the same tools for you or someone you know.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me using the email listed below in my signature. We need to keep sharing with each other. We are stronger when we do!

10 weeks and three days after learning that our daughter’s body was not making the proper amount of estrogen and as a result, dealing with Labial Adhesion we were busy packing our bags for a family vacation. Every year our whole family of 20+ people pile into multiple cars and make a trip out of state for a week long family get together. This time is always my favorite part of the trip, the best memories happen when we are stuck in close quarters and visiting with family members we haven’t seen in awhile.

I was happy to be having this time with my family, however, I couldn’t stop thinking about how maybe I should have just bought the cream our pediatrician recommended. Maybe I should have bought it and used it until I found something better. I mean how much harm can it do if I’m just using it for a few months? I want to be a good mom and help her, but was giving her something that would increase her already high chances of cancer being a good mom? The whole way down to Texas I kept praying that the Lord would speak to my heart, and my husbands heart, and show us what we should do, where we should turn to for help.

Psalm 54:4 Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.

The Lord answered our prayers!

A dear friend drove down from Houston to join us for a few days on the beach. While she was visiting she shared with us about a new Young Living Essential Oil. I have used essential oils off and on throughout the years, but I have not used them as a means of long-term healing. As she was sharing about these oils, I was amazed at the results people were having and the healing that the Lord was bringing through them.  One message that the Lord used our friend to share with us was this: God gives us a variety of tools to help us. Food, Herbs and yes Oils.

endoflex.essential.oil

Since then, we have been using an oil blend called, Endoflex, which is used to support thyroid health, endocrine system, improves adrenal glands, helps pineal and pituitary glands, and overall hormone balance. Endoflex is a gentle way to bring our daughters hormones back into balance without any harmful ingredients or side-effects. Since our daughter is pre-puberty she doesn’t need much. I apply 2-3 drops on her lower stomach, right around the ovaries, 1 drop on the INSIDE of each ankle, and 1 drop on the bottom of each foot, for a total of 6 drops. I have been doing this morning and night for the past two months and within the first month we saw results.

The cream our pediatrician recommended said that it would take 2-3 weeks before showing results so I kept that as a timeline for these oils. I was very pleased to see improvement in that time frame. My biggest fear was that I wouldn’t see anything happening to know if they were really working. I will be the first person to tell you that I am not someone who can go off of blind faith when it comes to health related issues; I need to see results. We are currently on day 80 and she is about 50% opened, she still has a very thin, almost translucent layer of skin that has yet to break, however, the biggest praise report for this momma, is that she has had ZERO bladder infections since week 3 of starting the oils!! I know it sounds silly, but I didn’t realize I use to hold my breath when taking her to the bathroom. I hated seeing my baby in pain. We would sing songs, sometimes pray right before going potty and now there are no more tears. Even if she never fully opens I know that these oils are supporting her body to function correctly. It might take until she hits puberty before she’s fully recovered and that’s okay, the cream the pediatrician recommended wasn’t a long term fix either. My husband and I feel at peace with this solution and we are excited to see how the Lord continues to heal her body.

If you or someone you know is suffering from UTI’s (bladder infection) I would be more than happy to talk with you about how we care for those in our home using Young Living Essential oils and other daily practices. If you are interested in learning more about Young Living Essential Oils, please feel free to contact me with any questions.

My Toddler’s Labial Adhesion story, part 1

Hello friends,

I would like to invite you to join me for a private conversation as I share about my daughter’s labial adhesion and how The Lord is working in her life to bring healing!

Have you ever had a story to tell that was so important to you and you were so passionate about sharing it that you didn’t know where to start? You didn’t want to leave out any details or miss a single, God Moment.

That’s how I feel about my story.

I want to share with you about the amazing journey God is taking me and my family on and I don’t want to miss anything, I want to show you how GREAT our God is, how BIG our God is. I want to make sure I don’t dilute the truth with “fluffy drama” to make it catchy. I just want Him to be seen through me and for anyone that’s been in my season of life or is currently there to say, “God you are good!”

Every story starts somewhere, so let us start where all good stories begin…In the beginning, of course.I would like to invite you to join me for a private conversation as I share about my daughter's labial adhesion and how The Lord is working in her life.

Ten months ago our 2-year-old daughter, Emily, started having frequent bladder infections and they were getting so bad that she wouldn’t go to the bathroom because she would be in so much pain and have bleeding. I kept encouraging her to not drink soda or juice even if everyone else was having it or not eat too much sugar or things with white flour. We changed our diets to help her with this yet still she would have a UTI at least two or three times a month.

One day she was using the bathroom and after going potty she starts clapping and says, “Thank you, Jesus, my potty doesn’t hurt today!!” my heart broke and smiled all at the same time. It amazed me how someone so small could see God in this.

It’s been about six months and even with a strict diet there has been little change so my husband and I decided we should take her into the pediatrician for some guidance on how to help her. We later learned that her body is no longer making enough estrogen to keep her body functioning the way it needs to and as a result she wasn’t developing correctly in her private area. He told me that I would need to apply a cream twice a day until she hit puberty and that hopefully once she’s older everything will balance out and her body will begin to heal on it’s own.

I left the doctors office not knowing exactly what I was feeling. Part of me was relieved that we had figured out the cause of her pain and another part confused. I’m the mom that eats organic, takes coconut oil, cod liver oil, daily multi-vitamins, and makes sure we get our exercise in. I felt like maybe I failed as a mom to give my daughter the proper nutrition, that somehow this was my fault. As I drove to the pharmacy to pick up her needed supplies I learned that her medication would be 250.00- it only lasted three weeks. I drove away empty handed. I didn’t have the money and I calculated what the cost would be for the next 11 years.. 47,657.50 … I cried. We don’t live a lifestyle that allows that. As I pulled into the driveway I took a deep breath and whispered a small prayer, “Show me what to do God. You knew this day was coming, you have gone before me. Please lead me.” Later that night I started to research the medicine our doctor suggestion. The very first warning said, “if you have a family history of breast cancer, uterine cancer, or ovarian cancer this will increase your chances to have one of the following.” Y’all, everyone woman on my mom’s side of the family has either had one or all of those cancers and later died from one of those cancers. The thought of giving this to my daughter made me nauseous! I felt that if I were to give her this for YEARS I would basically be handing her cancer wrapped up in bottle and I couldn’t do it….there had to be another way, this couldn’t be the only option!

10 weeks and 3 days later God opened the doors to help us find healing for Emily…..

Join me next week as I share the conclusion of our story!
